First Thanksgiving

Yummy.... prunes!

First Thanksgiving and she is ready to eat!

7 months old

Happy thanksgiving to everyone! We have a lot to be thankful for this year! Jessyka is 2 days shy of being 7 months old..... already! In honor of it being Jessyka's first Thanksgiving, we gave her another first and gave her a new taste.... prunes. Of course she told us that she was ready for what we were having but we didn't buy it. Jessyka is liking her adventure of experiencing new tastes. Although, I have to admit the munchkin is weird and doesn't care too much for applesauce. Ha! She is allergic to bananas (and didn't really like them either). She likes sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, peaches and prunes.

In other developments:

-Jessyka has refused the bottle for the last month and instead has drank her formula and water from her sippie cup.

-Rolls over so much you would think she is going to make herself sick! She has started to get her knees up under herself to start crawling but hasn't gotten there yet.

-Has started sitting on her own without assistance

-Is very interested in the dogs and has mastered the art of clearing them from a room by yelling at them! Watch out!!! She will also wiggle herself over to them and start kicking them. The good old dogs that they are, they take the abuse.

-She does "high five" and waves more often at people now

-The words "mama" and "dada" are very clear and so are rasberries. Her latest is saying mama and then blowing a rasberry at me! She does it over and over and laughs.

Jessyka's first Halloween

Jessyka got dressed up for her first Halloween. She dressed up as her favorite toy... her Dino! Although we don't want her growing up trick-or-treating, we don't mind if she wants to get dressed up.

6 months old

Hi everyone! We apologize for not giving updates as often as normal. We had a bit of bad health last month. Jaclyn had to have her gallbladder removed after being sick for the longest time. Dustin had to have his wisdom teeth pulled and had to take care of a sick Jaclyn and an ever demanding Jessyka..... bless him! On top of that, we all caught the cold that is going around. We are all doing much better now.

Pictures will be posted soon....we promise. Jessyka is growing so much, so fast. She has started foods now and has so far had sweet potatoes and squash. She loves them! Next will be Carrots. We are doing all of the veggies first and then fruit so that we can hope she grows up to like more veggies than mom and dad. She also likes drinking water from a sippie cup (a no spill sippie cup of course).

Jessyka's favorite way to pass time is to lay on the floor and move herself around on her blanket. She's on a roll... but still not crawling. She also likes getting close to the dog pillows so that she can yell at them.

Jessyka sits up unassisted for short periods of time, giggles out of no where, says her "la-la's, dada's, mama's, nana's, and says HI!" She will wave at people and give Nana a high five. She is the cutest thing.

Pictures coming soon!

20 weeks old

The stage of grabbing things out of our hands has begun! So has the teething and Jessyka is not liking it one bit. Jessyka is already wanting to be involved in all that we do. She either watches us from her bouncy chair or walker and sometimes from our lap (like now... she is mesmerized by the sound of the keyboard and my hands moving on it).

New things learned would be holding her bottle more frequently, sticking out her tongue and blowing raspberries. She also got new shoes for her time in the walker.

First time in her walker

Yummy!

Nap time with daddy

She finally accepted the ducky being in her bath tub after she gummed him a little while.

Jessyka received a few new items this week. She got a booster seat and a walker. She is in the fast lane to discovering new things. She hasn't actually gotten to sit with us at dinner time yet since she is normally asleep but she loves to sit in it while mom is doing chores in the kitchen. Jessyka got a walker a few days ago and is already on the move. She pushes herself backwards and laughs! She is just barely long enough to reach her tippie toes to the floor. She even got to spend some time in the garage with us when mommy and daddy were playing with power tools. Okay, maybe dad was actually using the power tools and MOM was the one playing but she was out there with us none the less.

We had our 4 month check up this month which consisted of two shots also. Jessyka always gets sick whenever she gets shots so she hasn't been feeling too good since then. Lots of love, games and baby Tylenol as prescribed have been getting her through!

Jessyka is now: 16lbs, 4 oz, 26in long!!! She is right on schedule! :) The Dr had us start the rice cereal a few weeks ago and Jess is doing very good with it. Last night when mom and dad were having a snack, we noticed that Jess was imitating us chewing. We figured we would try to give her some of her rice cereal from a bowl (for the first time). Mom, Dad and Baby had a blast! She ate every bit of it that we spooned in her mouth. Surprisingly we have a very clean baby. None of it came back out of her mouth! She made funny faces but seemed to enjoy it.

Cooking with daddy!

Belly time with daddy
Jessyka is starting to finally enjoy her tummy time! Especially when daddy is down there with her. She absolutely loves her daddy time and loves playing speed racer with him. She shifts and everything. Ha,ha!

She is growing so fast! She is up to 14 lbs and right around 24 inches (couldn't truly tell how tall she was since she is such a wiggle worm). They say that by six months they should be twice their birth weight and according to growth charts, she is right where she should be! That is always good to hear. Jessyka also started rice cereal this week per the doctors approval/request. She loves it! We are putting it in her bottle (yes, we know putting it in her bottle is a controversial issue but she is doing fine). She is not acting so hungry anymore and isn't taking as many ounces. Which is good. The spitting up is coming less frequently too which means that mommy doesn't have to do as much laundry! :)

Jessyka is refining her "picking up" skills and has gotten quite good at throwing her favorite toys around. Jess has also started putting herself to sleep too! It's good but sad because we don't spend as much time rocking her anymore. She is still proving to be very independent.

Misc Pictures

Finally a smile
Happy baby!
Peace
Playing is hard work
Welcoming Mr Doggy with some baby gibberish
P.S. Jessyka experienced her first earth quake this last week! She thought it was funny and started laughing!

14 weeks old

Since the last post, we have all been adjusting to mommy working nights! The good thing about being on nights is that mommy can stay home with Jessyka all day... who needs sleep anyway! :) The term: sleep when they sleep is so true but what if they don't sleep?! Daddy to the rescue! We have learned to take shifts.

New thing learned: Peek-a-boo! Jessyka has learned to put her bib over her face and drop it in the effort of playing peek-a-boo. She did this with grandma multiple times. Sometimes she would be laughing and other times she did the stick her tongue out and laugh.

Jessyka has also decided that she doesn't really want to cry anymore.... she would rather yell! She has her happy gibberish and her mad gibberish! It's rather cute actually. A question popped into my head though.... "is it too early to teach inside voices?!" haha.

Jessyka is already turning out to be independent. She likes her alone time in her bouncy chair to play with her toys. In fact, she will yell if she isn't able to sit in it.

We are also sleeping through the night again and taking as many naps during the day as she wants. Naps seem to help her sleep better at night... go figure.

Jessyka also enjoys watching bull riding when she goes over to nana and papa's. One day when Jessyka was sitting on mommy's belly she decided to throw herself back and laughed hysterically. (Good thing mom was holding onto her). When Jessyka was asked if she was a bull rider, she threw herself backwards again still laughing hysterically. This went on for a few minutes.

Tummy time is still not one of Jessyka's favorite activities. In fact, she still hates it. Although instead of trying to crawl, she would rather do push ups. Making progress?!?!... I think so!

12 weeks old

Jessyka's new favorite spot is in her bouncy chair playing with her toys! As you can see, she tends to play so hard, she falls asleep. She is still wanting to hold everything and put it to her mouth only now it's more frequent. As we know, she will pick out her own "blankie" or "favorite toy" but we are trying to get her to like the checkered blanket her daddy bought for her before she was even born.

A new thing learned: sleeping through the night! :) Although, I did jinx this by telling people. She had been sleeping for 10-12 hours without waking at all for several nights in a row and then reverted back to her 8 hours a night! :( But she is still young and we are still letting her call the shots.

Even though this page is for Jessyka.... other news this week: Dustin and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary on Sunday. We had a wonderful day driving through Big Bear, stopped at Big bear lake for lunch and went to the Zoo they have up there. Then for dinner we went out for sushi and picked up the little one from nana's house to spend the evening at home.

10 weeks old

Another week older and this week she has discovered her favorite toy! It's a dinosaur named Dino and he makes the sound of "blah"!!! She absolutely loves it!

New things learned: She speaks quite a bit of baby jibberish! She is laughing and smiling a lot more and likes playing "hide the smile" when the camera comes out. She likes to smile up until you snap the picture and then laughs right after because she "hid her smile". Jessy is also learning to grab things and likes to hold her burp rag. That would be a very good thing if she learned to wipe her mouth already. Ha! Not just yet!

Nana Lori also reported that Jessy is on the move. She decided to skoot away from Nana when she put her on the floor to change her diaper. Jessy has also done this in her crib when mom goes to pick her up in the morning. She starts off on one end of the crib and skoots on her back to the other end. She already knows that she can roll so she is over it! She tries to crawl when she is put on her stomach but only tries for a few seconds and then gives up. I'm sure she will get it sooner than later. That's all for now.

First 4th of July

Every year we are lucky enough to see the fire work display from our front door. The park that hosts all of the festivities is right across the freeway from us. Momma and Jessyka got home just in time to give the baby a bath and walk outside to see the fire works. The fireworks always start at 9pm and Jessyka made it up to 8:55pm before she decided that she had to eat right then and if she didn't get a bottle that minute she was going to scream her head off. We go in the house and make a bottle and she goes right to sleep. Needless to say, she was in bed by the time the fireworks were over. Oh well.... we'll have to wait until next year.

9 weeks old

Today marks 9 weeks since the birth of our little tater tot! She is still having trouble sleeping when we would like her to and we are sure that this has something to do with Mommy's messed up work schedule during the pregnancy. Jess has been sleeping in her crib in her own room for the past 3 weeks and only now has she decided that she doesn't want to sleep in there. Many mornings she can be found sleeping in her swing because we didn't dare move the SLEEPING BABY!

A new thing learned: sticking her tongue out at Grandma and laughing! Another thing learned is splashing in the bath tub and learning that the yellow ducky that has shown up for every bath time is okay.

She is so observant of everything... Watching and taking in the world!
