We've had lots going on since the last post. Dustin and I celebrated 3 years of marriage on July 20th and are still going strong. We have gotten back in contact with some great friends that I've known since middle school who have since added to their family as well.
Jessyka has been advancing very well. Jessyka is talking, walking and even starting to run. Jessyka has a few new buddies that she is learning to share and play with. Jessyka has gotten very good with matching toys of a certain shape and color and even says some of the colors. She has been getting better at saying thank you which was one of her first few words. Her favorite thing to point out is "flowers" so that she can say the word. Another word she likes to say is "bubbles" and loves to go outside and blow bubbles with anyone who is willing. She has been saying I love you more and more and even though I know she doesn't know what it means it still melts my heart every time.
She has been a true adventurer wanting to get into everything. She has taken her first trip to the beach and to the Zoo in Big Bear. Even though she thought everything was cats, dogs or bears I was still impressed she knew that much.
Jessyka loves to help with anything and everything she can even if it's following you carrying the cord when you vacuum. Jessyka loves to help Nana with watering the flowers and will fill buckets for Nana to use. She loves to play with leaves, water, balls and loves to be read to. Every where we go she will point out flowers, fans and lights.
Jessyka has 8 scary teeth and is working on teeth 9 and 10. For her 15 month check up she was 24lbs and 33in (although she kept jumping around so it was hard to tell).

April 30th= 1 yr old
How time flies..... Jessyka turned a year old on April 30th. She is such a joy and blessing in our lives. She definitely keeps us on our toes. She is in a big girl bed now and loves it! She sleeps so much better than she did in her crib. On a good night we are getting 12-14 hours sleep out of her because some days she is too into something to stop for a nap. She is talking, walking and crawling. She talks in full sentences on occasion but mostly its her baby gibberish. She must think she is pretty funny because she will say something and then start giggling. She definitely knows what she is saying even if we don't. The latest saying that breaks my heart but annoys me at the same time is "No night night mama". She has 6 teeth already and is working on what looks to be 2 more coming in. At her one year check up she was still 21 pounds (which she's been for the last 4 months) and was 30 inches long. Her pants have gotten a lot shorter on her so she has definitely had a growth spurt since then. She is active just like her daddy and loves being outside working and tinkering with things. She is getting more and more fascinated with books which is of course a good thing. Anything that rolls or turns is a plus in her book and she loves balls (soccer balls, bouncy balls or the "fuzzy ball" that her and Nana named Crazy Mike). She is a dare devil just like daddy too. Yesterday she decided to jump off the couch intentionally....not once but twice! We were lucky enough to catch her mid air. Even being daddies girl she still has some of mama's traits too. Every time she hears music whether it's from our computer, ipod, tv commercial or in the car she loves to do the dance that her Papa Steve taught her.

Almost 10 months old

Jessyka is becoming so curious and always getting into things. She is learning what the word "no" means and doesn't like it one bit. She hears that word and the pouty face comes out. Jessyka has been to the snow 3 times now. The last trip was this last week. Jessyka got to touch and taste the snow and of course spit it out. She got to sit in the sled and daddy pulled her around in it. At first she wasn't sure about it but then she loved it. She is learning the difference between hot and cold right now. When she touches something cold she makes a cute little noise and giggles. Jessyka loves going places and we are always complimented on how good of a baby she is.... the things they don't know. Haha. Just kidding.
Although Jessyka knows how to crawl she'd much rather stand and try to walk. She is always crusing in her walker and honking at the dogs (or us). Jessyka's favorite thing to do lately is bounce. She tries bouncing everywhere to see how different it feels. This was brought on once she realized that she could also bounce in her walker to make it go up and down.
This last week she started scooting herself off the couch or chair, landing on her feet and side stepping to whatever is appealing to her. She is into EVERYTHING!
The sippy cup is becoming a thing of the past now that we have discovered cups with straws. It all started when we went out to eat as a family for Dustin and my mom's birthday. Jessyka had eaten before we left the house so I didn't think to bring her sippy cup with water. I also didn't plan on her eating off my plate but she did that too. I asked for a cup of water for her and they brought out a cup with a straw. I handed it to her and it took her a few tries but she quickly figured it out. From then on, she has wanted a STRAW!
There a few more words added to her vocabulary... "num num" is what she calls food and the dogs are "dog dog".

8 months old
2008 was a great year for us minus our health problems. We hope that 2009 brings great health, love and happiness to not only us but our family and friends as well. With our work schedules it made it very difficult for us to visit all of our family and friends for the holidays, and for that we apologize. But we made the most of it. I (Mommy) was lucky enough to have Christmas eve off but worked Christmas night. Yay, for holiday pay. :) Jesskya had a busy Christmas week since we celebrated 3 days in a row and still have 2 more houses to visit this next week. Jessyka has mastered the art of opening presents... even ones that weren't hers. She got lots of great clothes and toys. She even got 2 rocking horses, one from her Grandpa Jim and one from her Aunt Shelley. One gets to stay at Nana Lori's and the other one is for playtime at home.
Jessyka grows and changes with each passing day. She not only got her first tooth this last week but she got her second one as well! Once we saw those pearly whites, we understood why she hadn't had much of an appetite, a drool monster and wasn't sleeping through the night.
Watch out for Jessyka in her walker! If she sees you it's full speed to knock you down! She goes backwards, forwards and sideways depending on what benefits her most. She is very curious and loves wondering and chasing the dogs!
Jessyka is starting to understand the concept of crawling but hasn't made it very far.
If you tell Jessyka "Yay" she will clap her hands and giggle. She also likes flapping her arms up and down when she gets excited or plain mad. You will know the difference by her either giggling or screaming!
Jessyka has a new phrase that she likes to ask mommy when she is picked up from her crib... "where's dadda?!" She also started saying the word "up". Sometimes we will hear "up mama" over the baby monitor.
We are still sorting through all of the pictures and will have more to share but for now we leave you with the ones shown above
